Titus 3:1-7; Psalm 22(23); Luke 17:11-19
The Samaritans were people from just over a boarder - and were hated, and despised by the Jews. The border lands, like many even today, were very porous and some places had a mixed population who rubbed shoulders peacefully if not entirely in full trust of each other. They shared a common faith, but the Samaritans did not accept all of the Jewish scriptures, and the Samaritans had their own idea about who the Messiah might be.
It seems that Jesus deliberately chose a route to Jerusalem through this land, and had encounters with Samaritans to show that salvation was for all, not just the Jewish peoples. We have the Samaritan woman at the well, the Good Samaritan, and now the lepers - the only one not a Jew was the only one to return to Jesus and thank him for the healing.
In our world, who might be the Samaritans amongst us who show the way to the Lord?
