55 Social Club

 

“Friendship, Fun & Fresh Coffee – Every Other Thursday!”

Looking to make new friends? Whether you’re new to the parish or recently retired, you’re warmly invited to join the 55 Club! We meet in the Old Priory on alternate Thursday mornings from 10:00–11:30am.

Enjoy engaging talks from guest speakers on a variety of topics, plus three essentials: coffee, cake, and conversation—all for just £1 per meeting. Annual membership is £10, which gives you access to occasional theatre trips, days out, and a subsidised Christmas dinner.

Catenian County of Gloucester Circle

The Catenians are an association of Catholic gentlemen dedicated to faith, family, and friendship. We support the Catholic church, local parishes, young people, and charitable causes. Lifelong friendships are forged through monthly meetings and social events

Catholic gentleman interested in joining are warmly invited to attend a Circle meeting. Dinner will be provided, courtesy of the Circle.

The local County of Gloucester Circle meets at 7 pm on the third Wednesday of each month at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Cheltenham.

Legion of Mary

We are a group of 6 or 7 parishioners – both male and female.
We meet on Monday evenings between 6:00pm and 7:00pm starting with prayer including the Rosary.
We go in pairs to care homes and also visit people in their own homes.
We deliver the statue of Our Lady of Fatima to anyone in need, and are able to help within the parish as advised by Fr David.

Society of St Vincent De Paul

The SVP is part of a worldwide Christian volunteer network committed to tackling poverty in all its forms. We offer practical help and friendship to those in need, including the housebound, the lonely, the disadvantaged, and the homeless. Our volunteers provide person-to-person support, offering companionship, a listening ear, and practical help such as visiting those who are isolated, assisting with essential needs, and signposting to relevant services. We work discreetly and respectfully, aiming to bring comfort, dignity, and hope to individuals and families experiencing loneliness, financial hardship, ill health, housing insecurity, or other forms of disadvantage.
Our members meet every other Tuesday at 6:15 pm during term time, and new members are always welcome. Joining the SVP is a meaningful way to make a positive difference in the local community, whether through offering time, compassion, or practical support.

Stitch & Pray Group

Stitch and Pray

Meet about once a month to Stitch and Pray, in the Old Priory on Saturday Afternoons. An informal friendly creative group who have produced a number of projects, some of which are sold to raise funds for Parish Projects. For example we’ve made three quilts which have been raffled for charity ; worked in association with SVP to make Vinny bags for the homeless and held sales of work at Christmas.

All ages and abilities are welcome – advice and guidance given. No experience of stitching is needed . During the session we have a short prayer time which often explores the symbolism of stitching and connection : with each other and stitchers across the world .

Cheltenham Laudato Si’ Circle

The Circle is part of the Laudato Si’ Movement – see https://laudatosimovement.org/.

Serving Catholic and other individuals and institutions worldwide, the Movement helps bring Pope Francis’s 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si’ to life and save God’s creation: its mission is to inspire and mobilize particularly the Catholic community to care for our common home and achieve climate and ecological justice, in collaboration with all people of good will.

Teams of Our Lady

Teams of Our Lady is a worldwide movement that supports married and widowed couples in living out their vocation. Each Team is made up of 3 to 5 couples (and their families) who meet monthly for a simple shared meal, prayer, and reflection. With the guidance of a chaplain, these gatherings provide encouragement and strength to navigate the joys and challenges of married life within the modern Church.

A group of musicians/singers provides music from a contemporary repertoire for the 09.30 Sunday Family Mass and with the choir, for the main feasts of the liturgical year. Musicians and singers of all ages are always welcome to join – please contact John for details.

Newman Association

The Newman Association is a national Catholic organization that brings people together in local “circles” to explore and deepen their understanding of the Christian faith. Inspired by Cardinal St. John Henry Newman—who envisioned “an intelligent, well-instructed laity”—the Association fosters thoughtful discussion and learning.

In Cheltenham, talks by visiting speakers are regularly held at Sacred Hearts Church, Charlton Kings. These gatherings offer an opportunity for reflection, dialogue, and growth in faith. For more information contact S Jamison on 01242 539810
