Jesus opens with a very good question. It is worth allowing Jesus to ask you questions. Take the time to decide what your answer is. The technique Jesus is doing here works because the chief priests and at the scribes do know what the right answer is. However, they do not seem to apply the answer to themselves - and Jesus has to rub that in by pointing out to them the truth that tax collectors and prostitutes are making their way to heaven faster than the priests, because they have the humility to accept their wrongfulness and to seek forgiveness.
