St Scholastica was the sister of St Benedict, probably indeed his twin. There is a good story about their relationship which should be an encouragement to all those who have a sister.
They were together, as was their custom once a year, and spent the day praying and discussing scripture, but the time came for Benedict to obey his own rule and retire to his cell. Scholastica was not happy, and begged him to stay talking. He was however adamant, so Scholastica bent her head onto the table and clasped her hands. Immediately a storm blew up which was so intense that no one could leave the building.
Scholastica had prayed to God to keep her brother with her, and God listened. A few days later she died, and in due course his body was laid to rest with her in a shared grave.
The moral - Listen to your sister!
