Hebrews 9:15, 24-28; Ps 98(97):1. 2-3b. 3c-4. 5-6; Mark 3:22-30
No one in questioning that Jesus did cast out evil spirits, and that he healed people.
The legal row is about his authority to do so - and the row seems to have hazed people's clarity of thought - as they would definitely have known that the Messiah would come and make the blind see, the lame to walk. Jesus was becoming famous for these works of mercy, and attracted the attention of the elite from Jerusalem - only a small group of people would have been able to write in those days. These Scribes seem unable to hear the witness placed before them, perhaps they were over used to treating everything in a rational, legal way: whatever - they were blind to the truth.
We must seek to be open to the truth ourselves!
