Tuesday of week 1 in Ordinary Time

Hebrews 2:5-12; Ps 8:2ab, 5. 6-7. 8-9; Mark 1:21-28

I once, while training to be a teacher, had the experience of a senior member of staff come into the classroom, and simply say - 'Tom, come with me, thank you' and turn around and walk out with nary a backward glance. Tom, a notoriously troubled child, quietly and immediately did as requested and got up and followed him.

Jesus is displaying that same kind of natural authority that can only come from a genuineness and authenticity.

If Jesus came into your life, would you simply walk away from your work and follow him? We should respect his commands when they come to us.
