1 John 3:22-4:6; Ps 2:7-8. 10-11; Matthew 4:12-17, 23-25
Right from the start, the christian community has been under attack from the evil one - this continues today. Today's reading from the first letter of John tells us how to identify the traps set for us by the evil spirits. Test them against the name of Jesus: the acid test is "would Jesus say / do this?".
Many of these false messages are 'worldly'. They encourage us as they offer things the world values - riches, freedom, power, etc.
What did Jesus tell us about those?
