Apocalypse 20:1-4,11-21:2; Psalm 83(84):3-6,8; Luke 21:29-33
There are some key hints in the short passage of Luke of todays Gospel, which point to the presence of God's Kingdom in our time and place - not as some ethereal time or place to wait for.
First of all, Luke was writing his Gosepl account shortly after the fall of the Temple of Jerusalem - it had been burnt and thrown down by the Romans. He is not saying Jesus prophesied this, nor that Jesus prophesied the end of the world before that generation died - this has clearly not happened. Luke is saying this has happened, but it is of no matter in the context of the Kingdom of God.
At the Transfiguration (Luke 9:270 Jesus said that there were those standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God. Therefore Jesus Himself in His lifetime brought about the Kingdom. And before the council Jesus said that from now on the Son of Man would take his place in the throne to the right of God.
This all points to the Kingdom being something that is happening then, and right now. It is a work in progress, and we must play our part in bringing it about, but it is inevitable, it is happening.
This is the time of renewal of the World.
