Thursday of week 31 in Ordinary Time

Philippians 3:3-8; Psalm 104(105):2-7; Luke 15:1-10

We may all from time to time have lost something - the car keys, the mobile phone, the TV remote... this can be very frustrating! But the parable today is talking of the loss of much more significant things. The lives of fellow humans is at issue: one is lost - we would all go out to look for them would we not?

And if that lost one were to be found there would be much rejoicing. Our world is giving us real life examples often - children being pulled alive from bomb destroyed buildings, mothers freed from cars buried in rain washed mud, these are almost daily realities for some.

Should just one of us return to God, seeking forgiveness, Jesus tells us - there would be rejoicing of thousands of angels in heaven!
