Tuesday of week 31 in Ordinary Time

Today is the third in a series of dinner parties that Jesus attends in Lukes' Gospel, and at which he delivers parables that have a common theme. The need is to share what you have: do not hard to yourself, do not be exclusive in your invitation lists but welcome everyone - the poor, the smelly, the ill.

Heave too is often perceived as a banquet - and if by the grace of God we end up there, we might be surprised to find whom we are sat next to at table! Rejoice, however, that surprising people are saved, and that (perhaps the biggest surprise of all!) that "I" am also saved!
