Jeremiah 31:1-7; Jeremiah 31:10-12,13; Matthew 15:21-28
In todays Gospel from Mathew, a significant change occurs in how Jesus responds to gentiles.. up to now he has exclusively ministered to the people of God - the jewish tribes. From now on however, he will minister to all - a signal to us to avoid tribalism, and to be welcoming to all.
The other point we might learn from this is the need to be persistent in our prayers. The woman has been pestering the apostles for days perhaps - they clearly are exasperated by her persistence. Jesus has another response to her persistent requests for help: He does - and the daughter is healed instantly.
