Thursday of week 28

Romans 3:21-30; Psalm 129:1-6; Luke 11:47-54

Once again we hear St Paul speaking of the equality of Jew and Gentile. Both it seems are capable of sin - and both are able to be saved.

The great diplomat, Paul has to argue both that Jews are the rightful heirs (as children of Abraham who was promised descendants more numerous than stars in the heavens) and also that non one, Jew or Gentile, needs to depend upon rigorous adherence to the Laws as a way of Salvation. We are not saved by our actions, but by the actions of Christ.

All that we need do is to trust in God's will to save us.
