Monday of week 18 in Ordinary Time

Numbers 11:4-15; Psalm 80(81):12-17; Matthew 14:13-21

Without doubt, Jesus would be entitled to time to grieve - his soul mate and cousin John the Baptist had just been executed. Seeking peace he was however pursued by a large crowd, eager to hear more from him.

Rather than ignoring them, or sending them away, he generously opens his heart and feeds them.

How did he feed them? By showing them that they already had what they needed and by sharing that with each other all would be satisfied, and with enough left over to feed many more.

So, never doubt that the Lord will feed you, and be prepared to share what you have with all around you.
